Being near-sighted and a kid, I only wore them when I had to– in class so I could see the board. When I was 14 or 15 my mom took me to get new glasses and on the way home I put them on and remember exclaiming that the trees had leaves, lots of them! This was the beginning of the end. At that young age, I realized, despite my teenage-girl vanity, that wearing glasses was worth seeing everything the world had to offer. My time on this beautiful planet is short and I didn't want to miss even one rainbow or line of ants marching down the sidewalk. I had to see as well as I possibly could.

I've been wearing glasses since I was nine.

As an adult I've tried every kind of contact lens money can buy, but I have an astigmatism. The lens of my eye is oblong shaped so any contact lens for me must have a weight in it to keep it resting on my eye lens at the correct angle. When you wear these kinds of lenses, every time you blink, the lens rotates, rubbing against your eye. This can cause discomfort, dry eye and in some cases even lesions or scaring. I've found contacts I can tolerate, even ones that are comfortable, but they simply can't give me the acuity of vision that glasses can. Contact lenses simply don't come in as many different strengths as glasses and I want to see as clearly as possible.

In my pursuit of an eyeglass free life, I've also researched laser eye surgery. For me however it is not an option. My vision changes too much every year and the pupil area of my eye is larger than most. This makes me a bad candidate for laser eye surgery as it can cause bad night vision or difficulty seeing fine details: something I can't tolerate as an avid reader, writer, and artist.

So what does that leave me? Glasses. But my eyes need protection from the sun and with my large pupils and the amount of fine detail work I do, my eyes are sensitive. For years, I suffered, then last year I discovered clip on sunshades. What an amazing idea, allowing me the acuity of vision I demand and still giving me all the protection of a high quality pair of sunglasses.

Memories from my childhood recall clip-ons as bulky, and awkward looking, but they have truly improved with age and technology. Clip-on shades now come in every, shape, style and color of tint you could want. You can even get multiple styles to change it up or compliment your mood. Many eye doctors even sell them in sets that attach to your prescription lenses with magnets and fit so well, no one will ever know you have regular eyeglasses underneath.

The kind of clip-ons your sunglass wholesaler carries are just as good and in many cases even more stylish. Other benefits to these clip-on styles are their compact size and affordable price. Why carry around a bulky case with expensive prescription sunglasses inside just waiting to be lost or damaged when you only need a slim protective cover that easily fits in a jean pocket or outside pocket of your purse? There is no reason; clip-ons are just as stylish, comfortable, and certainly less expensive. Your friendly wholesaler will carry clip-ons at a price that will make them an even better deal.

Clip on sunglasses have come a long way in the last few decades and for many people are the best, most affordable option to their eye protection needs.

Sunglasses are a fashionable accessory. With changing styles and seasons, most people own a few pair and update their collection regularly, but sunglasses can also provide an important health benefit.

Lenses with UVC, UVB, and UVA ray protection are necessary for anyone who spends time outside. Even on a cloudy day or in the shade your eyes are exposed to harmful rays that can cause serious damage to your eyes.

Sun exposure has been linked to the formation of cataracts: the clouding of the eye lens, which can cause blindness and can only be repaired with surgery. It is also the leading cause of macular degeneration or the deposit of yellowish spots on the focusing part of the eye, causing blind spots that, often, can't be repaired. UV exposure can also cause growths called pingueculae and pterygia to grow on the eye. Additionally, sunburn to the eyes called photokeratitis can cause temporary blindness.

The skin around the eyes is also delicate and sensitive to UV rays. Not providing these areas with proper protection can cause damage and premature aging such as wrinkles and age spots. Using an SPF of 15+ and wearing sunglasses with 100% UV protection will keep your skin looking younger longer.

Wearing sunglasses without UV protection can be more harmful than wearing none at all. When a lens without UV protection shades the brightness of sun, you squint less. Squinting is important as it causes less of the harmful rays to enter your eye. When you don't squint because the sunglasses shade your eye, more of the harmful rays enter your eye. Wearing lenses with UV protection is the best way to keep your eyes healthy as the right pair can block 100% of harmful rays.

Anytime you are outside your eyes need protection. The ray's reflection off snow, sand or water can be particularly harmful as those elements can reflect up to 80% of the harmful rays multiplying exposure. There are many styles of sunglasses to meet your needs for durability during activities. Proper protection during skiing or snowboarding is particularly important.

The color or darkness of lenses is not an indication of their UV protection. Your retailer or optician can help you pick the best sunglasses for your needs. Additionally, most opticians have equipment to test which, if any UV rays your sunglasses block or absorb.

UV rays can present many threats to you health and wellbeing, but with the right protection, you can enjoy the outdoors with little worry. Starting with the right pair of sunglasses is a great first step to a long a healthy life.

In today’s world, quality and affordability are two things that have to go hand-in-hand as much as possible. You might think that with cheap products, the quality might not be as good. But this doesn’t have to be the case. Take for example wholesale sunglasses. If fashion and looking good is important to you, then you better read on. In today’s world, you have to be wise enough to choose quality wholesale sunglasses over something that might cost you more money.

If you’re a retailer, then you’ve probably heard about wholesale sunglasses already. You might even be one of the many retailers availing of their many benefits. If you don’t know what these are, it’s not too late. Wholesale sunglasses are less expensive than those available in the retail market. Generally, this involves purchasing wholesale sunglasses in bulk, and these can be in different styles, brands or colors – all depending on you. To add to the perks, wholesale sunglasses are offered at discounted prices as opposed to buying individual pairs. So instead of heading out to the shop to replenish your collection, you can buy them all in one go and save yourself a trip to the mall. This is an important find especially for those who are rather fashion-conscious – those who make it a point to wear something different at every occasion. With wholesale sunglasses, you’re sure to have a different pair for every occasion. Others might not even be able to tell the difference between designer pairs and wholesale sunglasses – so why bother with something more expensive when you can get one at a much lower price?

If you don’t know where to shop, the Internet is an excellent starting point in shopping for wholesale sunglasses. A lot of sellers advertise their products here at discounted prices. Be sure to look around first and canvass the different prices at which wholesale sunglasses are sold.

If you’re either a sporty person or love to go fishing, then you might want to invest on polarized sunglasses. If you’ve always been so distracted by the glare of the sun, then these polarized sunglasses are the answer to your prayers. Polarized sunglasses reduce glare from anything bright so you can see better, making them ideal for sports and fishing. Polarized sunglasses are also great indoors if you spend long hours in front of the computer.

When the sun shines on a reflective surface, this causes the light to move in one plane – polarized sunglasses allow light in one plane to pass through the lens, eliminating glare. However, polarized sunglasses do not eliminate all reflected light – if this is the case, we won’t see anything!

To know authentic polarized sunglasses from fake ones, look for the test sticker to help you identify the polarity of the lenses. To be safe, ask your eye doctor or the salesperson regarding the specifics of the polarized sunglasses, so you can make the right choice. As opposed to regular pairs, polarized sunglasses decrease light selectively – for example, light coming from the water’s surface.

Before anything else, make sure to read up on polarized sunglasses before making your choice!

One of the biggest threats to your eyes is invisible germs, dust, and particles floating in the air. The scientific evidence has proved that long-term exposure to invisible ultraviolet radiation can certainly damage your eyes and finally lead to complete vision loss. And this can happen with anyone rather everyone including adults and children, we all are at risk.

Every year various renowned medical associations and centers remind Americans of the importance of protecting their eyes from the sun’s harmful radiations by wearing a good pair of sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats.

Just like your skin, your eyes also never forget UV exposure. Studies have shown that over exposure to sun can increase the risk of developing cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. Both of these causes lead to vision loss among older adults. Over UV exposure, wind, and dust can even cause pterygia, benign growths on the eye’s surface. The increased exposure to bright sunlight and the greater the chance of developing these eye conditions.

In addition to the damage caused by a lifetime of exposure to bright sun, you are ought to protect your eyes from acute damage caused by single outings on very bright and sunny days. Extreme exposure to ultraviolet light reflected off sand, snow, or even pavement can damage the cornea of the eye and the eye’s surface. Only one thing can protect you from all and that is sunglasses. Similar to sunburn on your skin, corneal ultraviolet injuries are painful, but they usually heal quickly. Read more here…
